Travelling The US during Covid: Top Five Destinations

Covid has messed with travel plans for everyone and travelling outside the U.S. right now feels like a huge gamble, but if you still want to have that vacation you’re dreaming of, then it’s time to explore some of your home country. The U.S. is home to some of the most iconic landmarks in the world, with great beaches, mountains, landmarks, and cities for you to explore. Here I list the Top Five Destinations for you to explore as we weather the Covid-19 pandemic. Always remember to research your destination beforehand and follow all regulations and protocols to protect yourself and others.

The Grand Canyon

This is my number one pick. The Grand Canyon is something I feel that everyone should see at least once in their lifetime. It’s a beautiful landmark, and if you live in the US then you have no excuse to not go see it. With the decrease in travelers due to Covid, airfare is cheap, or you can pack up for an epic road trip. Just have your mask handy. A lot of the Grand Canyon’s trails and buildings require you to wear a mask, but most of the attractions are open. Beat the crowds and visit now.

If you can’t stand wearing a mask, but still want to get out of the house, try visiting the national parks. It’s a great breath of fresh air, and they’re gorgeous anytime of the year. You can choose a nearby national park for a weekend getaway, or plan a vacation centered around famous national parks like Yosemite, Yellowstone, or Glacier National Park. Pack your mask, for the information centers, but take them off to breathe in the fresh air!

Florida

Fall and winter are the shoulder and off seasons for visitors to Florida’s beaches, which means it the perfect time to visit. Beat the crowds and get cheaper lodgings and airfare while you visit the beach. If beaches aren’t your cup of tea, visit a theme park! Walt Disney and Universal are in Orlando, so beat the crowds and take in all your favorite characters and rides. But make sure to pack your mask and be aware of Covid news surrounding these parks and Orlando.

Colorado

If you’re a fan of winter sports, Colorado is the place to be. Hundreds of ski trails dot the state, so pick your favorite and book! These tough mountains offer gorgeous views and trails for the intrepid adventurer. Beginner or expert, Colorado is the place to be for the best snow trails. However, this destination becomes more popular in the winter, so prices go up along with the crowds. But with the Covid crisis still hovering over everyone, there will be fewer visitors so if you’re thinking of going, there’s no better time than this winter.

Chicago

This may seem a little unexpected, but Chicago is a great place to visit, especially with fewer visitors around. Shopping, nightlife, museums, this city has it all. If you’re looking for a more urban experience, then this is for you. Book a spa day, shop at all the stores, and take in the architecture and landmarks in this beautiful city. New York may come to mind first when it comes to visiting famous American cities, however there are significantly more Covid cases in New York than in other cities, so with safety in mind it would be best to visit some lesser travelled locales while we wait for Covid to end.

These are the Top Five Destinations within the US to visit while we wait for Covid-19 to end. Keep in mind that travel can be risky, but if you follow all the rules and regulations, you can protect yourself and others while scoring great deals. So, get out there and explore! Whether you choose to visit the Grand Canyon, Chicago, your nearby national park, or the slopes of the Rockies plan well so you can take advantage of the low prices, and don’t forget to enjoy yourself on a vacation you’ll never forget!
